Just got a Canon PIXMA MX432 and trying to set up.  It asks for me to push the WPS button, but can't find?  Hep?

The WPS button is on your modem.  In front will be WPS, push and hold it in for about 10 seconds.

The WPS button is on the modem or router.  Either you bought one (the cheapest way in the long term) or your internet provider hooked one up.

No. This is some proprietary option that may have existed on a few routers at one point. I've had the two latest generations of Time-Warner-provided modem/routers and they don't have this button.

There's no excuse for Canon's continued waste of customers' time with this inaccurate (and poor to begin with) documentation, and defective menu design on the printer itself.

My router does not have WPS button.  I have used the CD provided with my new MG4520 printer and it is operating fine when hard-wired but I want to use it in wi-fi mode.  The wi-fi button on the printer is illuminated and I have tried sending something to print, without success.  Please tell me what I need to do to overcome this problem, which is vershadowing my pruchase of thi Canon product.

Sherry L,

Thank you so much for the rant and directions!!! I would have never been able to set up my new wireless printer without your help. THANK YOU!!! come on Canon..update your directions. today is 12/8/16. Traci

Try reading the manual for your router.  Some routers do not have an external button, which require that you connect to the the router in admin mode and issue a command to it.

This was SOOOO helpful as my router is downstairs in the room below! No way was I messing with that as everything in the house rides on it  - telephones, TVs and security cameras and central heating settings!  Also I can't carry the printer downstairs and then unplugging it again once set up was a risk, so your solution was PERFECT ... huge THANK YOU..

Thank you for this - my router is on the floor below my office and no way could I carry it down the narrow flight of stairs now it is un oxed and being set up. Your solution was perfect. Thank you so very much.
