When I bought my PixmaMX922 printer, I was told I could use a Targus Bluetooth 4.0 adapter, so my computer could communicate with my printer. I want to get rid of all the wires. yet I really don't want wifi. I have the adapter but when I put it in the usb port on the printer, it said, incompatible device. PLEASE help me, I am old and don't have a lot of computer savey.

I think you were given bad information.
From Canon website: Requires mobile phone (or other device) equipped with Bluetooth v2.0 technology and optional Canon Bluetooth Unit BU-30. Bluetooth operation depends on the device and software version used. Operating distance is approx. 10 meters but may vary due to obstacles, radio signals, locations where radio interference occurs, magnetic fields from microwave ovens, device sensitivity and/or antenna performance.
Do you have wifi at your home? You can connect computer to printer via wifi.
