What is CMFNSS6.exe used for?

I have a ImageClass D1620 on my network and I have the printer installed on my computer. I occasionally print to the D1620 and also use it to scan files to my computer. I notice a file that is being run at startup, CMFNSS6.EXE and wonder what it is needed for (Google search implies that it is related to Canon). I am trying to cleanup my start programs since I am having some issues with this computer. Can I safely disable or uninstall this file?

Hello,

That file starts up with the computer to establish a connection to the scanner. If you disable it, you can run into problems starting scans and using our software. For any other information on the files that would run on your specific version of Windows, I would suggest contacting support over the phone at 1-800-652-2666. Our agents would be happy to assist.
