Software needed for new printer

hello all, i know this question will just blow you away.

I'd like to sell each and every one of you a brand new car! thats right, brand new, the issue you will have though is that it doesnt come with wheels or tires! Just like that **bleep** brand new printer/scanner doesn't come with software to use it. Imagine if everything was like that? Had I known, if the box had said, your buying an item used for a paper weight because everything needed for it to operate wasn't included, I'd have bought a brand that does! well, thanks for understanding, i'm sure many of you fell for that BS when you got home and figured it out as well. But, But all you have to do is spend more of your time, searching and searching for everything you need, well thats provided you have internet in your location, then you get to do the manufactures job of trying to find everything you need to get this thing to perform as the pretty, shiney box shows it does. At what point are us consumers going to say [expletive] you we are tired of using our precious time fixing the screwup the manufactures intentionally leave out so they don't have to pay an employee to do so? OH well, thanks for allowing me to rant. i need to go clean up the mess that baseball bat made in the office. BTW any advice on a manufacture that actually cares more about people than the all mighty dollar bill, that does include everything in the box to get a print and scan job done?

Greetings,

Let's see if we can get you the help you need.

If you provide the model number of your printer, I'll provide you a link to its support portal so you can download the software you need to install it.  It will be the latest available instead of a CD that might have been created 6 months ago when the printer was manufactured, shipped to a retailer and sat on a shelf before you bought it and it got to your home or office.

You'll also be able to download a manual which will be electronically searchable.  This is helpful when you are trying to find a specific option or feature.  Canon does a superior job keeping its product documentation updated.

These are just two reasons why Canon and several other manufacturers have adopted this manufacturing process.  It's practical and makes good sense.  Many computers don't come with a CD or DVD peripheral any longer.  Think about the millions of outdated CDs that won't get tossed in the garbage.

You can also visit the site below and enter your printer model here:

If you have other questions or need assistance with installation, let us know.

Welcome.

In addition to the advice and link that Rick gave you, every printer that I have purchased recently (two of them) came with an insert Quick Start sheet that told me how to connect to my computer and download all the required software. Maybe yours did as well.

In the time it took you to rant and rave, you could have downloaded the printer software and manual from Canon. Your printer must have come with something that told you this.
