Scanner mg5420 not working on macbook pro air

pantegra

I am a bit stumped right now.  I am trying to get my new MacBook air to connect to the scanner of my MG5420.  for some reason, I am not able to get the laptop to connect to the scanner portion.  I have installed the IJ scan utility2 v 2.3.8, IJ scan light, the ICA printer drivers, nothing works.  I thought maybe the scanner was broken so I installed the drivers on my Windows 10 machine and they work fine.  So the scanner is working as it should.  I tried to find the TWAIN drivers for mac but could not find them.  I even tried to connect to the printer via a USB cable, that did not work either.  I am getting really frustrated over this issue.

What am I missing?

Laptop is running mac osx 11.1.

Hi pantegra,

The PIXMA MG5420 is not supported with macOS v11 (Big Sur).  Because of this, there are no drivers available.  The last version that was supported was macOS v10.12 (Sierra).

The PIXMA MG5420 is compatible with Airprint, so you should be able to print and scan.
