PIXMA TS5150 Scanning & Signal Strength

I have exactly the same problem with a new MIXMA TS5150. tried re-installing Drivers etc etc. Time consuming and feel like a mug. Something as basic as the scan function one would expect to work with a brand new printer and its software. Also I have seen this issue raised in several other forums. Using a USB connection because it does not seem to like WIFI (signal strength 48%). Still completely confused. Maybe Canon developers are aware of the issue but don't want to address it for some reason.  Not sure what Canon's contact number or details are either. Need a scan function on the printer because I am WFH.  Anyone want to  buy a brand new printer?
