I just bought a Canon PIXMA MG3620 printer from Amazon to replace an 11 year old MG3222 which died after 11 years. I have downloaded and installed both the printer and scan drivers and connected both wirelessly and with a Hi Speed USB Cable
When I try to scan using the Canon IJ Scan Utility2.app I get the following message
Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons:
- Scanner is turned off.
- (If using Wired LAN connection) It is disconnected from Wired LAN.
- (If using wireless LAN connection) Signal strength is poor due to obstructions.
- (If using USB connection) USB cable is disconnected.
The MG3620 is turned on, I have tried 3 different USB cables {one marked HiSpeed USB) with the same results. I can print and I can scan using Apple's Image Capture app. Using a MacMini with the M1 chip and Sequoia 15.6.1 OS.
Any suggestions

Hi avrum223,
Please click on the Apple in the upper left corner and then System Settings.
Scroll to the bottom of the left side in System Settings and click on Printers & scanners.
Click once on your Canon MG3600 on the right side.
In the new window that appears, what is listed to the right of "Kind" ?
