PIXMA TR4720 will not hook up to Wi-Fi

I have spent two days and probably 8 hours trying to get my Canon TR4720 printer up and running.  First it would not connect to my WIFI, so I bought a USB cable, got it all set up and now it won't print.  I have tried to figure out how to fix that and cannot seem to find the right area.  I am so frustrated that I am about to dispute the transaction and buy some other printer.  There is nothing on line that is decent help.  I will gladly send the printer back, but not in the original box as that was thrown away with the assumption the printer would work.  Boy was I wrong.

Greeting Susan,

I'm sorry this has been a frustrating experience for you.

The TR4720 supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi that uses WPA2 encryption.  Dual or tri-band networks that use the same SSID broadcast name or a different encryption standard can present challenges.

Solutions such as giving each Network broadcast a unique name can help, also temporarily disabling the bands the printer does not support while making a connection also works.  You can turn them back on once the connection is set up.  Many newer routers come pre-configured with WPA3 encryption set as default.  In this case, you can use a combination of WPA3/WPA2 for backwards compatibility.

If you are using USB and cannot print, there may be an issue with the driver you installed.

What operating system version and build are you using the printer with?  Maybe we can help confirm who selected the right driver.

Here is a link to the tr4720 support portal. All of the drivers available for your device can be found here.
