PIXMA MX922: Wireless Network Password Update Issue

Hello, I've had a Pixma MX922 for a number of years and just recently had to replace my wireless network. As the SSID changed I've had to reconnect devices, however in going through the printer's network settings I see the new network name, however the printer is not prompting for a passcode. Instead after selecting the network it simply goes to 'Connecting to the access point...' message, but that ultimately fails saying to recheck the passphrase. I can't seem to get to the passphrase screen even though that seems to be the likely culprit. 

I have also reset the Web Service, LAN, and entire printer "Reset all" settings through the menu, but that hasn't made a difference. Any advice is appreciated.

To anyone having this issue, as Patrick noted it is the security settings of the router causing this issue. Newer routers default to use newer WPA3-personal security standard, which is incompatible with older devices, including the MX922. This may also cause other smart home devices to lose connection, as well. 

Some new routers (and gateways - combination modem-routers) default to the WPA3 standard which cause this particular error with the MX922 printer. I found that by changing the settings of the router to WPA2 I was successfully able to get the printer to prompt for the password and connect successfully. You can usually find these settings within an app installed on your computer or mobile device to allow network administration configuration changes.

Note that there may also be a setting for WPA3-Personal-Transition. This security setting is intended to allow older devices to connect using a WPA2 protocol while allowing for WPA3 connections from other equipment. However I found in my instance that this setting also did not allow the printer to connect; only the WPA2 setting was successful. In my instance this was with an Xfinity XB8 router (mfg by Technicolor v 2.3).

The security settings on your router are preventing your printer from connecting in this manner.

Who is the manufacturer of your router?

I have exactly the same issue as the OP, word for word.  I have connected my TV, Computer, Scanner, and Nest Thermostat to the this router.  However the printer returns the same message as the OP and I am unable to find a location on the printer to change the passcode. 

Router is an EERO, model # SO10001.  Not aware of any security settings on this router.

Hi alananye.

Please try changing to WPA2.  To change your Eero network from WPA3 to WPA2, open the Eero app, navigate to "Discover," then go to "eero Labs" and toggle the "WPA3" option off; this will automatically switch your network to use WPA2 instead.  If you are unable to locate this, please contact EERO.
