PIXMA MX492 Error: storage location has too many IMG files, change location

I have a Canon MX 492 printer/scanner that runs on Windows 10.  Suddenly, out of nowhere, when I try to scan, I get a message that says the storage location has too many IMG files and to change the location. So I changed the storage location to an empty folder and still got the same message. I reloaded the printer software and still got the same message.  Thanks
