Its very likely the Century Link router is backwards compatible. So no issues from that standpoint.
Here's what to look at. The G6020 has a 2.4Ghz radio and supports wireless broadcasts that use WPA2 / AES encryption. You need to log into the new router and confirm its settings.
Ensure its broadcasting a 2.4Ghz broadcast using the encryption standards I mentioned above. Some newer devices come configured to use WPA3 (only) and this encryption standard is not supported. There is usually an option for WPA3/WPA2 which ensure backwards compatibility. Its also helpful to use separate SSID names for each broadcast. Example:

myhouse2.4
Modern wireless devices claim you can use one name for all broadcasts and that they handle "bandwidth steering" for you. Well, they aren't perfect, and you may find it easier for you to control which broadcast and band a device associates with.
