New printer won’t connect to app

Hey so I’ve followed the install new printer steps when I got new internet and it won’t connect. Tried WiFi and direct but neither option will connect to the app. IOS. Went down the rabbit hole looking for the next steps. WiFi is a 2.4/5g. Seen a couple threads that say the printer only works with 2.4 really hoping there’s a work around.
thanx in advance.

Greetings,

Many dual and tri-band routers come pre-configured with all of their broadcasts using the same SSID or network name.  This is to "improve" user experience, and allow for what they claim as seamless roaming.

The router performs "Bandwidth Steering" whereby it determines which band or broadcast a device requesting network connectivity associates to.  2.4, 5G, 6G, 7 etc.  Most consumer router's are not as "smart" as the manufacturer wants you to believe.  This means a device may not be associated with the best broadcast.

Its easy to fix.  log into your router and give each broadcast a unique name.   Example.

lewishome is 2.4

The others are 6G, I was just lazy when I named them.  😀

My printer is connected to the 2.4 broadcast.
