My Dell Peripheral Manager program is hiding my desktop icons for my new G6020

I just purchased a new Dell desktop and a new Canon printer to replace my older Dell and old Canon Pixma MG5300. My old Dell does not have a peripheral manager (PM) but my new Dell does and it will not let the new peripheral put its icons on the desktop screen. Instead, I have to use Dell's PM to print or scan. I do not like this and want to see my printer's own icon on my screen and use it to scan or print.

Does anyone have a workaround for this PM thing?
