I'm having the same problem. My printer is a Canon Pixma MX420 and the MacOS is Sequoia 15.1.1. Is there new software I can download?

I have the same problem. A couple months ago, when I updated from Apple OS Sonoma to Sequoia 15.0, the scanner on my MB2720 quit communicating both on Wifi and connected directly with cable. I spent days communicating with with both Apple and Canon support, but to no avail. I had to quit using the IJ scan utility both lite and full versions and was forced to use the basic Apple image capture utility. I update to Sequoia 15.1 but that did not help.
This morning, 2025-01-12 when I turned on my computer, I received a an error: Legacy System Extension saying Existing software on your system loaded a system extension signed by “Canon Inc.” which will be incompatible with a future version of macOS. Contact the developer for support. At this point I have little faith in in Apple or Canon solving this in an expedient manner. Has anyone on this forum found a solution?

I will say that my Canon Pixma MX420 printer is 10 years old. When I went on the Canon website to see if there were any new drivers to download, it said there would not be any more updates for this printer. Looks like I'll need to buy a new printer when the "future version of MacOS" comes around.

It is not always relevant to the age of one's printer. My brand new Pro-1100 gives me this warning when I upgraded to macOS 15.x. Canon will need to address this but I will be cautious before upgrading to the next major OS version.

I'm in the same boat with my MX922. Excellent printer that could last another 10 years. If Canon forces me to buy a new printer, it won't be a Canon.

After a couple months and no specific feedback from Canon, I received a general advisement that a new driver update was available. I do not recall any mention of a specific fix for the above problem, but decided to upgrade anyway. It fixed my proble. Thank you Canon.
A couple days later later, I received a received a similar notification as the above Apple message, so do not know if it was a timing error or if the error still exists. Time will tell.
