Loading an image in Prof. Print & Layout - imagePROGRAF PRO-300

Working in Win 11 with a Pro-300 printer.  Why is it that some tif files load into Professional Print & Layout and some jpg files load but others do not?  All images are 8 bit B&W or color. I lack understanding. Can someone help or explain the peculiarities of this situation?

So I loaded DPP4 and sure enough, files that would not print in PPL appear in DPP4 as a ?. Turns out they were all set to mode 'grayscale'.  When I changed them to mode

RGB, some of them loaded properly in DPP4 and PPL.  Interestingly an occasional uncompressed tif and jpg images did not load in either program, even after saving from Photoshop.  Still exploring the recalcitrant few.

Welcome. I don’t have PP&L (it’s not compatible with my printer) but I do know that Canon DPP4 doesn’t always recognize TIFF and JPEG images. Even though they have the file tag I think some images don’t completely comply with the standard file format. See if DPP4 recognizes the images you are working with.

What is DPP4?

(Thanks for the other info re tif and jpg)

DPP4 is Canon’s photo editor. Would read (or not read) files same as PP&L
