ImageCLASS MF445dw won't connect to new internet without Admin ID

Hello everyone,

I am having a real issue with my printer. We recently got new a internet and my printer is still attached to the old internet. It will not let me do anything without an ID. I have tried to reset it using reset techniques I have seen online and even tried to fully factory reset it but it keeps asking for an Admin ID which we never set. I tried many combinations including the one it supposedly came with. I have called the number for help multiple times and have sat on hold and have also had my family members call but no one answered either times (waited for up to an hour or more). I do not know what to do and I just want It to work. It still copies and works fine but when trying to print anything it will not show up and says its offline.

Greetings,

I have 2 Canon lasers.  They are color models, but both use a similar print server OS as the MF445dw.

Wireless connectivity.  You do not need a System Manager PIN or Admin ID to make or change wireless connectivity.

Press the wireless icon at the bottom of the printers LCD.   The printer will scan for compatible wireless broadcasts within range and display a list.  Select the SSID of your new network, then enter its password.   The printer requires a 2.4Ghz broadcast that supports WPA2 encryption.

If you have forgotten your System Manager or Admin ID, you can contact Canon Support for assistance with reset.  The default system manager PIN is 7654321.  If that doesn't work, then one was set whether you remember it or not.

To get support, you should register your printer in your MyCanon Account

MyCanon

The number for phone support is: 1-800-652-2666 (register your device first) 🙂

Since your environment has changed, I'd like to make the following suggestions.

Whether Windows or MAC

Remove the printer from your computer

Uninstall the drivers for the printer

Restart your system

Connect to your new wireless network.

Assign a static IP to the printer on your network.  This is done on your router.

Downloads for your device are here:

These are the drivers you would need for (example) windows

Install the printer as an IP printer.  If you don't know how to do this, let us know.  It might be best to start with getting the printer reset, setting and capturing a new System Manager ID so that you will have full control of your device moving forward.
