IMAGEclass MF663Cdw will not be added to CUPS

I bought a new IMAGEclass MF663Cdw today. It works with the print driver on my Windows-11, but when I try to add on the CUPS printsystem on my Linux Fedora server, it fails, because it cannot create a PPD (postscript printer description) file.
The system log reports:

Nov 11 15:32:55 shadow.afar.net cupsd[1017]: [CGI] Unable to create PPD file: Could not poll sufficient capability info from the printer (ipps>
Nov 11 15:32:55 shadow.afar.net cupsd[1017]: copy_model: empty PPD file
Nov 11 15:32:55 shadow.afar.net cupsd[1017]: [Client 2832] Returning IPP server-error-internal-error for CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer (ipp://localh>
Nov 11 15:32:55 shadow.afar.net cupsd[1017]: REQUEST localhost - lpoulsen "POST /admin/ HTTP/1.1" 200 419 CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer server-error>

Can I get a pre-built PPD file somewhere?

It looks like there are 3 or 4 candidate driver descriptions offered in CUPS. Am I wrong to choose the "driverless" version?

Correction: My printer is an MF663Cdw. (Fat fingers). Can I correct it somehow?

We've corrected the typo for you!  If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

Thanks and have a great day!
