I am a new Mac user ( have always used pc to print) but have managed to connect to my Canon TR8620a. Everytime I want to print I have to go and turn the printer on. Trying to print from my Mac shows the printer is offline. HOW DO I GET IT ONLINE??? Please be very clear (as if speaking to a 5 year old) and tell me how to keep printer online. I have followed every direction I can find to no avail. I am no expert. I struggle by on the basics. Some nice person please help me!

Greetings,
Please see my reply in this thread. I suspect it will be helpful in your case.
The premise in this case is the same. Whether you are using Windows or Mac. Although this printer relies primarily on AirPrint, you can still specify an IP address. Assign or reserve a static IP address on your router. Then we'll help you get it installed on your Mac so you don't have to restart it over and over to print.

Are you connected via Wi-Fi or USB?
If Wi-Fi follow Rick's guidance.
If USB do you have your power setting to Always On (shown in the LCD on the printer)?
