Edited: Sorry... my previous post was all wrong for your situation; my mistake. I should have checked this out before posting; I'm not familiar with Chromebooks.
The HP Chromebook does not run printers or other peripheral devices using a USB port and drivers like Canon uses.
But the HP Chromebook FAQ says it's still possible using Google Cloud Print, because that works around the need for Canon drivers. Try what it says here by clicking this link:

and post back if that isn't working. Be specific about what's going wrong. Good luck.

That should work, HaLeonard. I use Google Cloud Print on my Android phone to print from my phone to my MX922 printer.
