Compatibility between macOS laptops and MP280, 9000F Mark II

I own a Canon scanner (CS-9000F Mark II Image Scanner) and printer (Pixma MP 280 series) which are both compatible with my old MacBook Air (OS 10.13.6/High Sierra).

However, they are not compatible with my other laptops (MacBook Pro — OS 26.0/Tahoe and MacBook Pro — OS 15.7/Sequoia). They date from 2025 and 2018 respectively.

I would like to know if there is anything I can do to establish compatibility with my laptops with their current operating systems.

If not, I would like to know what is the most recent MacBook operating system that the above two items are compatible with, presumably something between High Sierra and Sequoia. Once I know the answer to the second question, I may just take my 2018 MacBook Pro back to an older operating system.

If you go to the Canon support page for each printer you can select a macOS version and see if a driver is available. Keep going up till you get an OS that doesn’t list a driver.

While our Forum Community members are welcome to chime in, the Canon PIXMA MP280 has been retired. That means we do not offer support for the printer or updated drivers. We recommend updating to a more modern printer and reaching out to our Canon Upgrade Program specialist who will go over the best options for upgrading your printer. It's a printer and a scanner, both Canons, and I don't like tossing things into landfill when they are still in fine working order. So, I am trying to avoid that.

Further to the above query: I have followed Mr. Hoffman's advice.   

For the Canon printer, I was offered the following six available and compatible software/driver options that, per the Canon site, will work with both of my MacBook Pros (one, OS V. 15.7 and another, OS V. 26.0). I have no idea which one (or more?) to choose. I don’t think I need all six!! Any advice?

Hello, I followed your advice.
