My Canon Pixma MG3100 printer is, at present, connected and working from my PC via a USB connector. I want to change to a wireless connection and have put a wireless dongle into the PC. I do not have a push button on my router.
To set up the wireless connection, does the USB have to be connected, temporarily, to the router or will the set up procedure work with the USB connected to the printer until instructed to disconnect. Also, is it correct that I will need to uninstall the printer from the Windows 7 PC and start from scratch using the set up disk?
One other matter. I also print from a laptop, wirelessly, via a Windows 7 Homegroup connection. When the printer is set up for wireless operation, will I be able to dispense with the Homegroup connection, and print directly from laptop to printer, to avoid having to switch on the PC when needing to print from the laptop?
Basic questions asked many times I guess, but thank you.
