Can't Change Country on Pixma TR4550

I bought a Pixma TR4550 when I was living in Italy. I've since relocated to the USA. The TR4550 uses PG-545 / CL-545 ink, while the equivalent USA version TR4520 printer uses PG-245 / CL-245 ink. They're the same cartridges, just different country codes.

Since I'm in the USA, I really only have the PG/CL-245 ink available without paying a premium to get Italian ink. I want to change my country on my device. The USA is not an option. When I select *Others, it tells me, "You need to set up the fax again."

But see I don't have a physical telephone line. Any attempt to set up the Fax fails because of this. So how can I update the country on my TR4550 so I can use the USA ink? 

I've moved internationally twice in the last 5 years. My job is highly mobile. I shouldn't have to buy a new printer every time I move to another country, especially when there's an identical version available.
