Not another thread!
Canon claims the firmware solve the problem many other on here have proven otherwise, it is the same on many other forums, not just this one.
To find your answer you will have to delve way, way back into the pages here -:

The result not only of the camera shutting down but many once in a lifetime shots where lost because of the problem, I guess this 'threw fat on the fire' so to speak.
