Try restoring the camera's default settings by doing the following:

1. Press MENU.
2. Select the tab.
3. Select [Reset All].
4. Press FUNC/SET.
5. Select OK.
6. Press FUNC/SET.

 Now when you try to start recording by pressing the MOVIE button, does recording start?

GUESS WHAT !     Apparently the card was full, but it did not say that until I took more still pics.   Thank you so much for trying to help.
