hi

i have this old canon camera, the model is powershot sd1100 IS digital elph. for some reason whenever i turn on the camera, the lens doesn’t open all the way and doesn’t work but when i switch to the photos it works properly and i can scroll through them.

when i first charged the battery i opened the camera and it worked but when i reinserted an sd card it stopped working, i charged it again because i thought the problem would be from the battery but it still didn’t work

if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated

hello there! I had a similar issue with Canon Powershot S90- battery was good; display was good; exposures were good, but the lens wouldn't come all the way out! It would stick half-way and get back in again! Annoying problem was caused by a grain of sand stuck in-between the telescopic lens optics! How'd that happened? I remembered going to the beach and set it down on a towel spread where sand got in when the wind blew! Solution for me was to use a good blower designed for any camera and a plastic pick to remove that darn fine grain of sand.  Problem solved! I never brought any camera without a weather seal ever after that incident.  I hope you'd find something stuck in-between those lens. good luck!
