S3 IS power-up issue

Motie

My S3 IS was not used for a few months.  I turned on the power, and the screen came on and showed me the settings, but no image from the image sensor.  I cycled power on and off two more times, and still no image.  On the fourth try, I got an image.  Now it works fine.  Is this a sign that the camera is going to fail?

It might be a sign that something inside mechanical was stuck due to the vacation off and the grease getting old and dry or just a hangup in the internal software.

Perhaps your batteries are low?

No way to tell for sure only time will tell.

To reset the internal software/firmware without resetting to defaults you can remove the batteries and hold the power on switch in the on position for at least 30-45 seconds then release it and then replace the batteries and turn it back on.

Anything more involved would require service which would cost much more than your camera is currently worth.

I have an old S5IS that still works very well.."knocks on wood"!! lol
