Hi, I’m currently in Bristish Columbia and are experiencing some northern lights over the next few days. I’m just wondering what the best settings are to take good pictures of dim northern lights on the sx740hs.
i tried last night with a 15sec shutter speed, but every photo turned out just black.
thanks

Hello aclinv,
There are a couple of shooting modes that may work for you. They are found in the [SCN] mode on the mail dial. Set the shooting mode dial to [SCN] and press the [Q-SET] button. You should then be able to scroll through the different scene modes available. You can try the [Handheld Night Scene] mode or the [Fireworks] mode. I would suggest taking a few sample images in each to see which one fits your needs.
