Hi, my new Canon sx740hs digital camera suddenly started saying "Busy" whenever I tried using the flash. It was working perfectly the night before and then suddenly started saying Busy the next day in the bottom left hand corner. I've tried all the troubleshooting tips, as I can still take pictures without the flash, and nothing is helping. I figured there is a problem with the flash itself. What should I do?

Hi ecoward7,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with the flash on your PowerShot SX740 HS. The Busy sign by itself is not an error message. The camera will show Busy anytime the camera is in the middle of process it needs to complete before moving on to the next task. It can be shown for a range of things like if it still needs to clear the buffer after taking a bunch of photos back to back or if the flash needs to cool off and recharge before taking another photo.
So for the flash issue when does the Busy sign start? If you pop up the flash, it hasn't been fired yet, and you see the Busy sign when you try to take a photo that can be a sign of an issue with the flash. That can indicate something like the bulb malfunctioning and being unable to fire. If the Busy sign is showing after you've fired the flash multiple times that is a sign that the flash needs time to cool off before being used again. In that case it is working correctly.
If the camera is giving the Busy sign without firing the flash we would recommend sending the camera in for repair. There aren't any settings that would cause that kind of behavior.
