We traded up from an EOS T5 to PowerShot SX70 HS.
we cannot seem to configure the SX70 to pop the flash when shooting like our older T5.
I cannot seem to find any info in the user manuals about this feature.
thanks for any help,
Paul

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum:
You're right: it's not too obvious, but the built-in flash of the PowerShot SX70HS must be manually raised - it does not pop-up like DSLR cameras. You place a finger on each side of the flash housing and rotate it upwards, as in P28 of the Advanced User Guide:
Might have been an idea to show a couple of fingers!
When finished, just push it down again - gently. The other thing you lose with the 'upgrade' is the separate hot shoe for flash. That disappeared after the SX60HS.

Thanks so much for your detailed info. Now we know and will manually lift the flash when needed. We lost the pop feature but gained the versatile lcd screen that we had many years ago on a previous canon camera.
so far just learning how to use this new camera.
thanks again Trevor,
Paul
