PowerShot SX540: Trouble transferring photos to computer using the USB cable

I have a Powershot SX540 HS, and i wanted to transfer my photos from my camera to my computer I have a Mac, but I plugged the USB cable into the computer, and it will still not let me transfer. Please I need help. How do I transfer Photos from my camera to my computer using the USB cable?

Hi and welcome to the forum:

The fastest and most reliable method is to get a USB SD card reader if it does not have an in-built SD card slot.  With that:
The process is:
1. Turn off the camera and remove the card
2. Place the card into an SD card reader attached to your computer.  The computer file manager should recognize it as a removeable drive
3. Go to the DCIM folder and use CMD+A to select all files, and CMD+C to copy them
4. Go to whatever folder you desire on your PC hard disc and press CMD+V to paste the files
5. Confirm all files have been copied
6. Remove the card and return it to the camera
8. Using the camera's format command, format the card(s) clean.
