PowerShot SD890 IS Transferring Pictures to computer

I have a older Canon Power shot SD890IS. I have always been able to transfer pictures to my computer with no problems. Just recently when I try to transfer,computer screen says "Please update your devices setting to accept media transfers". This just popped up so I do not know what to do.

Older USB ports were capable of multiple communication protocols.  Check your camera settings. I believe that camera only has two communication modes.

Perhaps the easiest and most reliable way to transfer photos with a card reader.
