Hi,

Hopefully, someone will be able to help me out with figuring out where the timer option is on this camera?

Thanks

Tim

What kind of timer? A delay before shoot timer, or an interval timer, or a delay between continuous shots timer? You could do what I would do to help is download the manual from Canon Manuals and search the pdf for "timer" "delay" or "interval".

Got it!

On my old G7x mark ii the "c" continuous timer allowed for me to take up to 10 shots slowly  so the subject could adjust between the 10 timer photos.  On my new G7x mark iii it takes the 10 photos rapid fire.  Can I change this so my mark iii is more like my old mark ii?

Canon removed this functionality that was available for decades on all numeric cameras. It's not working either on R series cameras, which is unfortunate.

You cannot use their phone app (Camera Connect) with newer versions to do the same, as it no longer work with older cameras like the G7X Mark II and SX710 HS. If you have an old version, keep it as it is!

They want you to buy their remote controls instead.

What? 😂
The app very specifically doubles as a remote.

This is from the EOS R6 Mark II: HERE, and HERE.

If you have questions about a Canon camera you own, please don't hesitate to contact support at 800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666).

Thank you Stephen for the reply.
The question is about G7X mark 3 (not 2). It works fine on my Mark 2.
Sorry my comment was based on my R50 for the R serie. I agree it's ridiculous as it is (see the photo), you can only specify the number of photos, not delay before and between them. So if you ask for 5, you get 5 times the same photo (no interval at all) after a fixed delay of 10  seconds.
And it's true and tested that the new app stopped working on G7X Mark2 and SX710HS.
When you configure Wifi, it says "Connected to phone" and then "Connection error".
It was working fine with the same Android Phone before. (photos below).

Hello!

The EOS R50 has several other, more advanced options than the older PowerShot.
The self-timer is only a self-timer, not like in the past. See HERE.
Remote Shooting using the BR-E1 Wireless Remote HERE.
Instructions for the various methods of Remote Shooting HERE
Very detailed instructions on how to use the Camera Connect app HERE.

Should you require assistance with any of these functions, don't hesitate to contact support at 1-800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666).

See the exchange below to have more context.
If you are more lucky with a Mark3 than me with my Mark2, the phone app could still working.

If it's the same than with an R50 on Camera Connect, you have an option to connect it with Bluetooth to use your phone as a remote.
Use the 2 seconds delay on the camera so you will not always be with the phone visible on your photos.
It's the better solution I have while waiting for Canon to correct the "C" mode bug.

Hi, timball1!

The self-timer function can be accessed by simply pressing the up arrow 🔼, then you'll see the options available:
