hello everyone,

I bought a g7x about a week ago and unfortunately I dropped it and now it’s giving me issues. The camera turns off out of nowhere and doesn’t let me take pictures or videos AT ALL! It freezes and makes a cracked screen look (sometimes) and sometimes when the lens are coming out it makes a super weird sound. none of the buttons work and I’m so upset because I just bought this camera!!! I have tried everything literally! I left the battery out all night, tried to even reset it and it says “busy” and turns off! how much would it cost to fix this? is it worth replacing it or fixing it?

Hi Kevelyn29,

Bring it back to  Canon for quote on the repair cost as we will not know the exact cost.  Come back in here to share the cost and we will help you decide if it is worth to repair.

Greetings,

The G7x Mark II was released in 2016.  It is still serviceable by Canon.  The damage is unfortunate as Canon point and shoot cameras are hard to come by these days.

To receive support and repair, register your camera at MyCanon.

https://mycanon.usa.canon.com

Once registered, you can initiate a repair request.  Describe the damage. Dropped camera, cracked screen, randomly shuts off, etc. You will receive a preliminary estimate. At that point you can decide if you want to send the camera in for inspection and repair. Sorry this has happened.  Good luck with the repair.
