After going away on a trip and moving all my photos over to my laptop I noticed the quality was significantly reduced along with the size. When I looked further into it it seems that all my photos were taken in the "small" format designed for email attachments. I'm not sure how this happened at all as I have never touched this aspect of editing on my camera at all. I'm gutted because the photos are essentially useless due to poor quality and small sizing. I switched over to using a microSD card - could this be a problem? Is there any way to reverse the sizing from S to L???

Using a MicroSD card is not the cause of your problem. But Using a MicroSD card is not advised for any use on your camera. Hang around the Forum and you'll see lots of problems owing to MicroSD use in adapters. You should only use full-size SD cards.

Yes, to set your image quality (e.g. "L"), see page 57 of the User Manual.
Agreed with avoiding micro-sized SD cards. Don't use them. Only use full-sized cards from reputable brands and purchased from reputable stores.

Can I change the image quality on photos I have already taken?

No, unlike the late Kodak PhotoCD, the resolution (number of pixels) and quality (compression) is fixed when the file is made.

Potentially only very little. Though if you have them at the smallest size (email), about the most you could do is using applications such as Photoshop or similar, double their width and height and achieve something fairly decent. Enlarging the image beyond that will lead to very poor results.
