Power shot SD800 IS don’t focus

I just got this camera and no matter what i do to the settings it will not focus at all. Any help?

Just got? From where, and was it supposed to be working?

Start as the Basic user Guide says. Set mode dial on Auto. Go outside and point camera at a distant subject.  Pressing shutter button should make it focus, and fully makes it shoot.

Try other distances. If it won't focus at all, you have a cute 19-year-old piece of junk.
