My lense stuck open. Camera will not turn on

Has anyone had their lense open and the not shut on their Powershot! the camera shows an error message

I have a canon Powershot ELPH 100 HS. Everytime we turn the camera it says :

Lense error. Will shut down automatically. Restart camera. Then it shuts off.

It's probably a mechanical problem, I suggest you to contact Canon.

I've heard of that issue with other brands as well, usually happens when the camera is drooped with the lens extended.
