Lens error not retracting fully powershot a1400

Took off the case to replace the battery door but now there is  a lens error and the lens is not fully retracting. Tried slightly nudging and rotating but no help. Unsure of why this happened. Not sure what steps to take now. The camera is a powershot a1400 hd

Cameras are extremely intricate and very delicate.  What might seem to be routine can end with problems like these.  The A1400 is now 12 years old.  Parts availability might be non-existent.

My recommendation would be to start shopping for a new camera.
