IXUS 175 How to download photos to MacBook Air

i recently found my old canon ixus 175, im assuming from around 2013, and am unable to download the photos onto my macbook air. ive tried connecting the camera directly to my computer as well as using an old usb reader and nothing pops up on my screen. any suggestions?

The old Card reader should work, but if you plug the USB cable into the Mac, try running Image Capture manually.

You might also need a new USB cable.
