Canon PowerShot SD790IS Memory Card Error

Hi Canon Community,

I have a Canon PowerShot SD790IS, which works with an unlocked Promaster 128 MB SD card.  However, when I attempt to use a much larger and newer Sandisk UltraPlus 64GB 80 mb/s card I receive a "Memory Card Error" message. Any thoughts on the rules of SD on this camera? See image below and thanks for your consideration!

Check the manual for your camera. There are SD, SDHC and SDXC class cards. It li likely that your camera is only compatible with SD cards.

Thanks, will do. I was trying to use an SD XC card...

This camera would be most comfortable with SD cards up to 8 or maybe 16 GB.
