Hi, I recently bought a used Canon PowerShot SD600 6.0MP Digital ELPH Camera. I keep getting a “memory card error” and I’m not sure why. Initially I believed because given the age of the camera, it needed an SD card with not as much storage, so I got a 2G standard SD card. But I still got the error message. I then bought a 1GB standard SD card, and again got the message. Does anyone know the appropriate memory card for this camera or if there is something else I’m missing? Thank you!!

Greetings,

20 yr old camera, I'm not surprised.  The camera supports 2GB cards.  Card errors can be the card itself or hardware related.  First step. Try with another 2 GB card.  Following this, you can use a flashlight to inspect the card slot.  If neither yields results, the camera should be abandoned.

I was inclined to suggest something similar, except coming from the opposite direction.

Assuming the camera worked properly, how were you planning to retrieve the image files from the camera?

I think a card reader would be your best option.  Use a card reader to test the cards. Try to format one. Read and write files.
