You should be able to transfer files using a card reader but you may not be able to process the RAW files without converting to Adobe's Digital Negatives which will only be usable by Lightroom, Newer versions of Elements or CS5 or 6. .

MANY THANKS ! I HAVE BEEN INTENDING TO GET LIGHTROOM FOR QUITE A WHILE. I ASSUME, THEREFORE, THAT HAVING LIGHTROOM WITH MY VISTA OS WIILL ALLOW COMPATABILITY/ RAW PROSSESSING WITH MY G7X. THIS WILL RESCUE ME FROM CONTINUEING TO BE, "HIGH CENTERED" ON MY TROUBLESOME PROCRASTINATON. RONALD W. CROSS

Well I'm not sure it will recognize the G7X files while running on Vista or XP (which I'm still using) & may be in the same boat when I get a 7D2 this spring. With that in mind I'll do some research to see if I can find an answer to that at Adobe's ACR help / info section.

Well Lightroom 5 won't run on Vista but 4 will according to this.

The G7X may only be supported by Lightroom 5 RAW to DNG files

From the look of things you & I will need to update to be able to use even the DNG files. Scroll down this page & you'll see that your G7X was added into the newest version of the converter & it's not compatible with versions of Elements, Lightroom or earlier versions of SC2 thru 4
