New Canon user, noticed that on PowerShot A2300 in histogram display mode, some of the image highlights blink once a second. This is not mentioned in the manual. Is it a feature, or a bug?

It blinks to let you know that the region of the image is over-exposed. It's a very useful feature for user to know if the exposure is too bright.

Agree with above answer & once you know the photo is overexposed in some areas (usually the white or bright areas) use Exposure Compensation to fine tune and take another photo. Often though a little bit of overexposure can be considered normal in really bright conditions when there's a white area.
