Did you mean:

my printer is making a roaring noise

I have a Canon MF8380 cdw.  It is making a loud roaring noise when during printing. The image quality is not affected.  It is less than 1 year old.  Could the drum need cleaning?  Is there a drive belt on this machine that could be slipping?

Hi nedbar,

I'm sorry to hear about the noise you are experiencing from your device.  Please carefully check for any jammed paper or obstruction that may be causing the noise, and ensure the toner cartridges are seated properly.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, or if you need help with the procedures, it is recommended to discontinue use and contact our technical support group at 1-800 OK CANON (800-652-2666), 8A-8P EST, on Monday for further assistance.

I have had this same problem.  It started within the first couple of weeks.

I have blown out the printer with compressed air... didn't help

Very annoying - seems to be just a bad quality issue.

My printer was fine for years, but in last few months, as it starts up to print a very loud slam or crunch.
