ipf6450 maintenance cartridge question

I let my ipf6450 maintenance cartridge get full and a new one is on the way but taking forever due to the mail slowdown. I have another mc-16 that was briefly installed in another 6xxx series printer. I realize you are not officially allowed to move them between printers but this tank is barely used, so I'd like to use it while waiting for the new one. Any hacks that would get me printing?
