imageCLASS MF743Cdw - Out of colored ink, just want to print in black. Can I?

I am out of some of the color cartridges, but I just want to print black text. The printer says I am out of the Yellow and Magenta, okay. Is there a way to set it up to still allow me to print black without having to buy new colors? I tried to change it to print in grey scale, and on the print page I select black and white, still does not allow me to.

Hello,

The issue looks like one of the toner cartridges are leaking or there is loose toner powder in the printer. In this situation, you can try removing all of the toner cartridges and inspect the inside of any for any loose toner powder that can be wiped up with a damp cloth. You can also inspect the magenta toner to make sure it is not leaking/damaged. Once you reload the toner, you can perform an ITB and fixing unit cleaning using the steps in the link HERE. If that does not resolve the issue, it looks like the printer needs service or the magenta toner might need to be replaced.

Yes, it's the printer that is telling me that I am low on colored ink and need to replace.

Below is what the red streaks look like.  I have cleaned them off, and yes I have seen loose toner powder and have cleaned that as well, however, this has happened when I run low on black ink as well.  As you mentioned the cartridges cost a lot of $$, so I try and run them until no ink appears.  In this case, I'm only printing black, I've cleaned off the colored ones, yet it keeps happening.  Any other suggestions to work around this while I use them up?
