imageCLASS MF653Cdw will not scan.

AmericanMark

Hello,
I have recently purchased the Canon ImageClass MF653Cdw to use for my university work.
The printer in terms of printing has gone fine, however when I attempt to scan with it, it initially would work, but after a few times would stop scanning.
I attempted to use the option to scan the file to the computer, but it would end up making the sound that it would scan, but end up failing and showing the error code "155.0.0" on MF Scan Utility.

Before you ask, I have installed all the correct drivers and software, and have reinstalled many times, but every time I experience the same issue. My computer is a Dell Pro Max 16 MC16250 running Windows 11.

If you have any ideas as to how I can fix this issue, please let me know.

Greetings Mark,

Sorry but I'm going to need to know which drivers you installed?

it would also be helpful if you could tell us how the printer is connected and to what?  Direct connection to your computer using a USB cable, wired ethernet or wireless.  If you are using a ethernet or wireless connection, I need to know about the network and hardware.  Is this network in your home or hosted by the university (dorms)?

Also, are you using any 3rd party anti-virus software?

We can provide more guidance once you answer the questions above.

Thanks,

I installed the Canon MF650C Series UFR II Drivers for printing, scanning, and fax. I am using a wireless connection to my computer at home. I am also using McAfee antivirus. I hope this may help with a solution.

Thanks Mark,

You need the following 2 drivers for full functionality and control.

[Windows 64bit] MF656Cdw/ MF654Cdw/ MF653Cdw/ MF652Cw MFDrivers (Generic Plus UFR II / Generic FAX / ScanGear)

And

[Windows 32bit & 64bit] MF Scan Utility Ver.1.21.0.2

Scanning will not work without the scan utility above installed.

You're McAfee AV could cause communication issues with the scanner.  After installing the MF Scan Utility v1.21.0.2, see if you can scan.  If it fails again, see if you can right click on the McAfee icon in your System Tray and temporarily disable it for testing.

You may also need to set an exclusion in McAfee for the Scan Utility for it to operate (be ignored by McAfee).

Optional but recommended.  I recommend assigning a static IP address for your printer on your router.  This is a good idea for persistent devices like printers which do not come and go from your network.  This only has to be done once.

Drivers for your printer can be found here:
