Hi, I recently bought a complete set of toner cartridges for my imageCLASS MF653Cdw. I put the new black one in when printer told me it was empty. But all the printer does is keep cycling a little message saying toner acquisition is available or something like that in a little scroll and won't print or indicate the black is present in the little diagram. When I go to the menu and find ink status it shows a black is 100% so it must be seeing it. I have turned off the option to buy cartridges directly from the printer. I can not find ANY customer service to describe this to and get a replacement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Greetings,
Where did you buy the replacement toner from?
Was it Canon brand?
Start by powering the printer off. Open the toner drawer / carrier and reseat all of the toners. Then power back up. If that doesn't help let us know.
Canon toners have a warranty. I'll provide next steps once you reply.

Hi, thank you, I bought the complete set directly from Canon. This reseating did not work. I have also tried unplugging while printer is on, waiting 15 minutes and plugging back in. It just keeps repeating, in a little scroll, “Replenishment service is available” which I never wanted and never turned it on and doublechecked and it’s off.

Did you remove all tape/seal strip from the new cartridge?
Still have the cartridge you took out? Put it back in to see if it is recognized properly.

Greetings,
When the printer is powered up for the first time (set up), you are given the option to enroll in the toner replenishment program. You press yes or no. I wonder if this was missed when you set up? Its also possible you are presented with this option when new toner is installed. One thing you may try is resetting the device and performing set up again with the new toners installed. This can be done in the remote UI and you must be logged in as a system manager.
If no luck there, it's time to contact Canon Support for assistance.
Register the printer in your MyCanon account (first), then contact support

It didn’t have any tape strips (and awful instructions, tiny little diagrams on the box and nothing written). I did try putting the old one back and that time it said “cartridge is empty” so recognized it.

Thank you Shadowsports I’m pretty sure I passed on the replenishment program but it was just over a year ago so who knows. I guess I will have to figure out how to reset and start over. Not sure what you mean by “remote UI”? You mean from my account on the Canon website?

Greetings @Skotyman
No, the remote UI is the printer's web server. How is your printer connected and to what?
If it's on a wired to wireless network you just open a web browser and enter the IP the printer has been assigned on the network. Example mine is 192.168.1.99
You have to log in as System Manager to perform a factory reset. The remote UI allows infinite customization of your printer and its settings.
