I am using Windows 11, and I am a CPA preparing tax returns. The printer will print all the letters and basic schedules, put the Federal Tax Return comes back as gibberish. I was told to shut down the computer and printer, and then turn it back on. It worked perfectly for one night and now won't print correctly again and that fix won't work. Is there a more specific driver for this printer. The one I download says generic Canon driver. That is all I could see to down load.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Greetings,
I've used my MF644Cdw to print taxes several times. I use TurboTax. Windows 7 /8/ 10 previously / 11 currently. I've printed the actual returns and schedules.
You need two drivers in order to print & scan with the 644 under W11.
They're available here:
https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/color-imageclass-mf644cdw
The drivers needed are below. You can click the links I provided 🙂
[Windows 64bit] MF644Cdw/MF642Cdw MFDrivers (Generic Plus UFR II / Generic FAX / ScanGear)
And
[Windows 32bit & 64bit] MF Scan Utility Ver.1.21.0.2
Do not be concerned by the word generic. UFRII is a proprietary Canon printer language. PCL6 was created by Hewlett-Packard and PS was created by Adobe. 😉
How is your printer connected, and to what. Wired, wireless or USB?
The driver installation sequence can depend on the connection method used. Unexpected characters are gibberish print is often related to a driver issue, it can also be affected by the application you are printing from. Does the problem occur when printing from one application or any application?
