imageCLASS MF642Cdw Asks me to load paper into tray 1 every time I print

Every time I try to print to the printer, an error pops up that says "Load Paper. LTR/Plain 1".  I have to manually select the second option to get it to print.  I've tried setting the deflaut paper tray several times, but the error still pops up.  I print from windows and android.  Please help me.

Thanks

That worked MikeRVa. Thanks so much for this. It was making me a little crazy! Cheers.

Hey:  Glad it helped.  Wow.  Seems like forever since I posted this, and people are still having issues with the glitch.  I'm really surprised that Canon hasn't picked up on this and added something to their manuals.

But then again, the fix still works - so maybe we should just be happy.  It's a bit of a shame though, as the printers themselves are really quite good.  Ours has been consistently reliable.  The thing takes up space, but not having to replace those tiny ink jet cartridges -- photos aside -- is great.

1000 times THANK YOU!

This solution worked after a million other experiments drove me crazy!

You are brilliant, sir!

Cannot thank you enough for this solution! I've been in IT for ten years and the hardest part of my job is still wrangling printers. Seems like every year Windows hides or removes more settings, and while Canon has a wealth of features they are hidden so deeply and in the most strangely esoteric places. Without your post I'm not sure I ever would've found this setting, and would still be trying to coax windows into sending different print information for another week. You've saved my bacon in a huge way.

I created an account, filled in the captcha like 4 times, and verified my email, signing up for spam just so i could return and say THANK YOU FOR THIS SOLUTION.  It totally worked for me.  I am very thankful!  I could not figure out why the printer thought it had two paper inputs.  My MF741C/743C printer has been driving me crazy due to this. I felt like Michael Bolton in Office Space - "PC Load Letter???  WTF does that mean??"

Nice work!!

Thanks for going to all that trouble just to say thanks.  And yes, I am reminded of having had pretty much the same reaction you did at the time.  To this day, I don't understand why the printer (which has otherwise been great) behaves that way.  But glad you're squared away.
