My Canon imageclass printer (MF642CDW) says it is out of paper, meaning that the orange light blinks; however, it is full of paper. What could be wrong?

Hi! Thank you for your thoughtful response. The paper setting was set to Paper Plain 2, while the actual paper was Paper Plain 1. Thus, I reset the the paper setting, and now it works like a charm.

Greetings,

Please confirm what you're seeing is a paper out error and not a jam.

Please ensure you haven't overfilled the paper drawer.  Remove it completely and check for any stuck or loose (torn) paper corners or jams in the feeder mechanism. You may.need a flashlight and you might need to move it near the edge of a desk so you can see up underneath.  Look for anything that is obviously bent or misaligned.  Remove half of the paper you have installed in a drawer and insert it back into the machine carefully ensuring proper alignment.

If none of this helps.

Your MF642Cdw has a 3 yr warranty directly from Canon. If you are within the warranty period, please register your printer in your my Canon account and contact support.
